Bookkeeping pricing, fixed or hourly. Agreed before we start.
Fixed monthly plans are priced on transaction volume and complexity. Hourly is priced on the seniority of the person doing the work. Whichever you choose, the number is agreed in writing before we touch your books, and it does not change without your say-so.

What actually moves your price
Most bookkeeping quotes are a shrug and a number. Here is what we look at on the free review call, so you can predict roughly where you will land before you speak to us.
On a fixed plan
- Transaction volume. The biggest driver. Count the lines on a typical month's bank statement.
- Number of accounts. Every bank, card, loan or payment processor is another reconciliation.
- Payroll. Headcount and pay frequency. Weekly payroll costs more than monthly.
- Inventory and entities. Stock tracking and multiple companies are genuinely more work.
- Current state. A tidy file costs less to maintain than one we are firefighting.
On hourly
- Seniority. You pay for the level of judgement the work needs, not the top rate for routine entries.
- Hours. You set the monthly budget. We report weekly and never exceed it without asking.
Catch-up and clean-up pricing
Quoted separately as a one-off fixed fee, because backlog work is a project, not a subscription.
| Backlog | Typical range |
|---|---|
| 1–3 months | $300–$900 |
| 4–6 months | $900–$1,800 |
| 7–12 months | $1,800–$3,500 |
| 12 months+ | After review |
Ranges assume normal small-business complexity. We confirm an exact fixed number after seeing your file, and would rather quote high and be right than quote low and come back for more.

The things people ask before they sign
Not sure which model you are? Run the plan picker, then ask us on the free review call.
Should I choose fixed monthly or hourly?
Fixed monthly suits steady bookkeeping that looks similar every month. You get a known number and we absorb the variance. Hourly suits variable workloads, one-off projects such as a catch-up, or a business that wants a named person working set hours inside its own systems. On the free review call we will tell you which is cheaper for your situation, even when it is the smaller number.
What if I go over my transaction limit on a fixed plan?
One busy month is not a problem. We absorb it. If volume is consistently above your tier for three months running, we will flag it and propose a new fee before doing the extra work. You will never open an invoice that is higher than you expected.
How are hourly hours tracked?
Every hour is logged against a task and reported to you weekly, so you see exactly what was worked on. You agree a monthly hour budget in advance, and we do not go over it without asking you first.
Is there a minimum on hourly?
The minimum is 10 hours a month. Full-time means 160 hours a month, at the monthly rates shown: $1,650 for a bookkeeper, $2,400 for a senior bookkeeper and $3,600 for an ACCA-qualified accountant.
Is there a setup fee?
No. Onboarding, software setup, a chart of accounts review and migration from your previous system are included. The only separate charge is catch-up work if your books are behind, and that is quoted as a fixed fee before it starts.
Do I need a long contract?
No. Both models run month to month with 30 days' notice. If you leave, you get a full export of everything, and we will speak to your next bookkeeper so the handover is clean.
Can I pay in GBP, AUD or CAD?
Yes. Prices are listed in US dollars for simplicity, but we invoice in GBP, AUD, CAD or EUR at the prevailing rate if that is easier for your books.
What if my business is seasonal?
That is common in construction, retail and hospitality. On a fixed plan we can average your fee across the year instead of spiking it in busy months. On hourly, you simply raise or lower the monthly hour budget as the season changes.
